Research Interests

I have a broad range of research interests focused on the formation of stars and planets, and the properties of the interstellar medium as the region where stars form. For this I make use of astronomical observatories and facilities covering different regimes of the electromagnetic spectrum from the infrared to millimeter and radio wavelengths, studying the so-called invisible and cold Universe. Thanks to this, one can study how stars and planets from out of large clouds of dust and gas; the first interactions of these newly-born stars with the surrounding environment and natal clouds; the role of gravity, turbulence, feedback and magnetic fields throughout all this process; and how chemical compounds in space can become progressively more complex to end forming building blocks of life.
