Research Interests
Francesc Torradeflot obtained a degree in Mathematics from UPC in 2006 and started working in a savings bank where he had the role of a data scientist specialized on financial risk modeling. After leaving the banking sector in 2013, he had different jobs in the fields of software development and data analytics. He joined PIC in 2016 where he have been mostly dedicated to ESA’s Euclid project (in preparatory phase), being a member of SDC-ES (the spanish data center) and OU-SIM (the group responsible for simulations). He is also a member of PIC’s Services team, which has the goal of providing tools for data-driven tasks. He is the administrator of the Jupyter and gitlab services running at PIC and he provides support on machine learning and light virtualisation technologies (docker, singularity and kubernetes).
He is interested in data science and programming (with a preference for python). He aims to be a research software engineer and help bridge the gap between research and the use of information technologies, needed to efficiently handle the massive amount of data generated by current (and future) scientific projects.
